Here are the following important issues.
I have started a poll for the next reunion timing in the www.kmc1984reunion.blogspot.com, poll ends on 30/8/09.Please vote responsibly, you have only one vote.
My recommendation would be to have reunion meets every 2 years with a one day event. We meet in KMC and then go to any Taj in Chennai and have a buffet party. For every significant event such as silver Jubilee, 30year , 40 year reunion or golden Jubilee we could have grand 3 day events.
But I think we have to first agree whether we want to called 1984 or 1989 batch so that the calculations would work out.
Now that gives me an idea for another poll. So that next poll will decide whether we are 1984 or 1989 batch[
I would suggest that people enroll as followers in www.kmc1984reunion.blogspot.com, so that you will get reminders about updates. As time goes by I will blog infrequently , but will keep it alive. We can activate it as we get closer to the next reunion.
As mentioned before we should have a rotating organising committee and share the work.
Dear Friends
ReplyDeleteReturned back to UK yesterday night. I had a fantastic time in the reunion.
Prabhakar thanks for your continuing enthusiasm to keep the blog alive and also for the wonderful snaps which you sent through email.
Ravi We missed your presence and there are lot of photos in the reminisce 2009 blog site.
Prem
Dear friends,
ReplyDeleteJayalakshmi's daughter (Aishwarya) had worked hard on putting this video together. Unfortunately this didn't go as planned on the reunion day. Hence I have uploaded the video on utube. Please follow this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iZKAV6oqvw
regards
Jeyam
Prabhu,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your suggestions regarding the reunion, to be held every two years. I think the idea of one day event every 2 yrs is fine & a 3 day event for significant event seems fine too.
The politically correct term is batch of 1989.
One other suggestion, if I may, why don't we have the reunion date set , say 3rd saturday of Dec every other year ( a bit like what we have at MCC ). That way we all would know the date in advance & if we can't join one year we would know the date for the next event well in advance & can make necessary plans. Just a thought...
Regards
Jeyam
After the poll to decide on the next reunion date , will start a poll to name our batch 1984 or 1989. Majority wins.
ReplyDeletePrabhakar
Here are my thoughts:
ReplyDelete(1)Meeting every 2 years seems reasonable and do-able. (2)Why at KMC/Chennai again? Can we have it at a cooler place like a hill station? And have it for 2 days? Tolerable weather will make the event more enjoyable; two days/one night stay will give us enough time to catch up with each other in a more relaxed manner. (3)Two days get away should not be a big issue for localites and for people coming from far away, two days will be more worth while a trip compared to one. (4)Set dates, like Jeyam mentioned is actually a good idea. (5)I strongly feel that our batch should be called 1989 batch because that is what is politically correct and most appropriate. Year of graduation is what is universally used to refer to a particular batch.
Banu.
Thanks prem
ReplyDeletesuggetions
As we all agreed class of 89 suits us. my vote is for it. regarding once in how many years i have voted 3, i dont know.
dates? Jeyam, i feel 1st or 2nd saturday of august is suitable for most of us.
Savithri
Thanks for briefing me about the reunion.
Bobo, Raghunath, Rebecca
Nice speaking to you all.
Ravi
Prabhakar,
ReplyDeleteI feel,a 2 day meet away from hustle-bustle
of city traffic would be better than 1 day.
Once in 2 years, on fixed days like 2nd Sat &
Sun of Aug,say.
Jayalakshmi,
The video clip is fantastic! Thanks Aish !It
was worth the wait.
Rachula
Dear Jayalakshmi
ReplyDeleteI saw the video along with my 2 boys. Aishwariya has done a wonderful job and please convey my wishes to her. My son Paul who is 8 years was asking lot of question about the video and he says he loved it.
Thanks a lot.
Prem
Dear Prem, Rachula and Prabhakar,
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the words of appreciation. It would really be an energy booster for my daughter Aishwarys who is preparing for her 10th board exams. I will pass on the message to her. I am indeed thankful to Jeyam for bringing this out in the utube. Hoping to meet you all soon.
Take care.
Jayalakshmi
Dear Jayalakshmi
ReplyDeleteThe video presentation was really beautiful and taughtful. Inspite of not knowing about different places in KMC she has arranged it in such a way it is coherent and logical. All the best for her.
Ravi
Prabhakar
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer a longer meet like what Banu suggests. Even if it is in chennai and nearby areas, it has to be worth our while to travel and perhaps enjoy the company for a few days. 2-3 day events would be ideal.
Again there is the option of people attending in full or parts of it.
Even this year, I felt that I couldn't say goodbyes to a lot of batch mates properly.
A one day event would be insufficient and make it too formal plus batches of people may take off in different directions.
So I hope the new organising committee would look for a 2-3 day meet.
I hope a diiferent venue is chosen with more privacy for our batch. No criticism here, but just to build on your hard work.
Hi Vinod
ReplyDeleteI saw the photos you posted on www.KMC1984.blogspot.com. The photos were excellent and your comments were very interesting.
Why cant you also post them on the reminisce 2009 blog where others have posted. I was initially was searching KMC1984reunion blog for your photos.
Prem
Jeyam
ReplyDeleteCan you please post the photos in your slide show or send it to our email atleast in parts.
Prem
First of all publish a list of all those who had attended reminisce2009 and all those who were aware of it and not attended along with reasons if any in this blog please!
ReplyDeleteElections...! That is one wrong method of opting for a choice designed by politicians!
Obviously, by nature, people are born with inbuilt genetical characteristics of likes and dislikes! Hence one choice of one may not coincide with other..., but the character is unique!
By opting for choices the uniqueness of a character can get spoiled! Just by opting to choose to follow the most a decision cannot be justified due by its character of lacking of truth! Justice weighs the truth from two sides always! Unfortunately we don't follow justice in our elections...! We just opt for the most... in a hurried manner... as always... without any explainable reasons...!
In India justice is provided in a manner "a hundred accused can escape but a single innocent should not be punished"!
Our nation is very well known for its unity despite its diversity! We all very well aware of what elections are doing to us! Hence preserve uniqueness of a character at least in our blog!
Surely there may be one or many reasons for anyone joining or not joining us! Why cant you wait?! And what is this big commotion about this year anyway?! DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPLAINABLE REASONS?! It is by creation of such commotions only the politicians keep themselves alive! Let us better not do the same mistakes please!
kannan
Hi Vinod
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comments.
Hi Kannan
Have you become a politician? Long messages is a sign .....Be aware. Why didn't you turn up for the meet?
Hi Jeyalakshmi
Aish work is simply superb!
Hi Banu
Your idea of meeting in a hill station is fine.
Hello friends
All who joined in 1984 (whether they completed in 1989 or not)and all those who have completed in 1989 (whether they joined in 84 or not)can be included in our batch so that there need not be any more confusion in this aspect.
Priscilla
Hi Kannan,
ReplyDelete(1)You want a list of people who were aware of the reunion but did not attend, as well as the reasons, if any, for not attending?? Sure.... Why don't we start with you first? Tell us why you didn't come to meet us this time!!
(2)Sorry...no offense...but I could not make out heads or tails of what you were trying to say in your comments...especially the last paragraph. Can you please be more specific and to the point? We have had enough of Graphomania from Naga!! (Sorry Naga...)
BANU.
Hi kannan
ReplyDeleteI missed you during the reunion. I was expecting a philosphical chat with you like olden days in KMC hostel.
i cannot understand your comments probably we could have had discussion in person which would have made it clear. Please Continue writing in the blog.
Prem
Soory to dampen everyones spirit... Does anybody know what happened to Seethalakshmi?
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm enjoying every bit of this blog..
Thanks everyone
Vardhini
Jayalaxmi, nice job on the video by Aishwarya.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the issues being discussed here:
Kannan, you have to unaderstand that we are just a bunch of old friends trying to have good fun & not trying to preserve the uniqueness of any particular character! If 54% of us voted on the blog to meet every 2 years as opposed to 30 &10% for the other 2 choices, don't you think more people will show up if we met that way? Nobody questioned your decision/choice not to come to the meet this year until YOU brought it up on the blog. We are a democratic nation & opinion polls are a big part of our decision making process.
Regarding 1 day vs. 2 day meets, that calls for another opinion poll, Prabhakar!(Sorry, Kannan!)
In opting for a hill station meet in August, you have to remember that In Ooty & Kodai, the rain starts during that time & we'd be trading the heat & humidity of Chennai to the wet & cloudiness of Ooty?Kodai!
Priscilla, I saw the slide show you'd made of our batchmates & you've done a really good show. It is a good reference point to find out where our batchmates are professionally, geographically & personally after all these years! We should find uot a way to give to the non attendees.
Kalyani
Hi friends,
ReplyDeletethanks for all those lovely photos on the blog.
i agree with priscilla- we should include all who joined in 1984 and all who passed in 1989.increases our friends circle that way!
Jayalakshmi, your daughter's video was great
Priscilla, your slide show is really fantastic.
fixing a particular date is a good idea- gives us time to plan for attending the meet.
i feel we could alternate the meets as 1day/2days.the 1 day meet has to start in the forenoon so that we have enough time to catch up with the rest of us.
Ranjani
I was taken aback by Kannan's speech- I didn't know he could be so vociferous and vehement. And I do agree, some of it was difficult to understand.
ReplyDeleteIt doesnt really matter who didnt attend, what matters is those who attended have the time of their lives and would do it again in a heartbeat, every 2, 3 or 5 yrs.
Jayalakshmi, your daughter's video was so poignant . She has amazing talent. You must be one proud mommy!
Ramzan
Hi Ramzan

Dear Kalyani... unitla irunthappo kooda ippadi lengthiya engooda pesaliyemma...?! Ippavachum pesumma... pesu...!
YOUR photos and videos are a gift to me...!
(If I don't write this here, who else will...?)
After that long exhausting hilly walk all around Kerala I believed and expected somebody would congratulate me... if not my own colleagues... who else will I ask to...! People cared to wish Happy birth day...! Failed to congratulate...! It was a tremendous experience for me to travel from A to Z then from Z to N... The best part of it was the Birthday boy who cared to congratulate me at the very first place...!
Thanks everyone!
Kannan
