Assemble at KMC at 11 AM

 

Bus leaves for the venue (MGM)

 

Bus capacity; 40 total; Chennai residents or those with cars are encouraged to use their own transportation to venue. Each A/C bus is Rs6500. Will work the numbers and may organise for 2 buses.

 

Lunch at MGM Resort

 

Games -14:30- 16:30 Hrs

        - Volunteers needed for coordinating games such as Cricket, Beach Volleyball, Football and other kid activities.

 

Will provide space for guests to freshen up and to dress formal for the group photo.

 

Assemble for Group Photo at 17:00 Hrs

Dinner Buffet

 

During dinner will likely have a magic show for kids.

 

DJ Music

 

Bus will return back to KMC at 23:00 hrs

 

For participants who wish to leave early; private car operators are available. The classmates who use this, will have to bear the cost. 

 

What's in a name?

I have received a lot of requests, to name our reunion . Rachula recently suggested KONVERGE KMC for the same. So I am inviting name suggestions. 

Along with  names; acronyms could be considered as well. How about BMW-KMC (stands for Beautiful Men and women of KMC 1984).

Photo Project-Part Muunnu

Yesterday we went to see the Dean of KMC and also to invite Dr Viswanatha Rao to our reunion on Friday 7th, August. Dr Rao sends his regards to everyone. The planning is going well and all the pieces are coming together.

However  we have a total of  only 10 people who have sent in their KMC pictures for the photo project. We need more help in this and calling classmates personally is too laborious and time consuming. So making one more request. We can focus on the other aspects of planning , if there is a better response.

These are the ways to send your KMC pictures. We don't need your family pictures. That you can send to Priscilla.

Choice 1; Digitize the pictures and email them to-Jeyam(mjeyam@gmail.com), Jayalakshmi(jayaseshan@yahoo.co.in),or Prabhakar(prabhudevavaram@hotmail.com) 

Choice 2;  Go to Konica and digitize to CD and send CD to Prabhakar.

Choice 3;  Mail you pictures to Prabhakar and he will take it to Konica. Will return your pictures.

If there are other ways , please let us know. The pictures are from KMC and Dr Rao is the HOD of Physiology at MMC.

Strike

The medicos in Chennai have entered the 13th day of strike for a pay hike. Currently the interns are paid 4500 and they want it to be increased to national standards. This varies quite a bit with the high of 10000 in Delhi and Kerala.

Today 22 students escalated the strike to a  fast -unto -death mode.

This reminded me of the strike during our internship; when the pay hike was increased to 1000. Also the contribution of brave heart Raghuram who had to be admitted in the GH- ICU after his fasting. Did I mention that he refused IV fluids for our cause.

If I have forgotten to mention other brave hearts please help me in recognising them,

Photo Project-Part Deux

We have been receiving many photos, but not enough.  Many of you wanted to help us in the past. This is your opportunity. Please send your KMC pictures to Jeyam, Jayalakshmi or me, and call your friends and remind them about this project.

Now about the cow. This particular cow came our flat one year ago to transport an iron bed to my sister's house. Though India is hurtling towards space age, our humble cow is not going to be pushed to the sideline. For finding its role in modern India as well its ability to stop or slow down our  motorists (from the kamikaze school of driving) ;I dedicate this blog entry to the Majestic Indian Cow.

The Photo Project

We plan to have a slide show during the August 8th event and would like to request all of you to send in your photographs taken during your KMC years.

Jeyam(mjeyam@gmail.com) and Jayalakshmi(jayaseshan@yahoo.co.in) are going to  work on this project. After listening to comments; these are the options to send pics.

1) The best way is to send (email) a digital version of the photos to Jeyam or Jayalakshmi.

2) If you would like to send hard copies , you may post it to me. I will convert it to digital version in Konica and hand over the photos during the meet.

3) If you live in far away places and your parents are in Chennai or elsewhere, have the photos; you could email me or viswanath and we will collect them for you.

 

Please recognise that every ones involvement is necessary to make this a success. So please help by sending in your KMC pictures.

Old Business

    

Contact List-  Priscilla and Banu report that only 20 more to be; contacted and informed about the reunion. We will wind up these efforts soon.         

Reunion Attendees- Room booking will stop on July 10th. We will make calls to classmates who have agreed to come to the reunion or have expressed interest.

New Business

Money Allocation-  Money will be set aside for Friday 7th August event, Address Book( Muralidharan will let us know the amount), Bus transport on August 8th, Official photographer(Vasanthy to organise), Banners  and Music DJ. Gift ideas not considered at this point.

Permission -  Will contact The Dean KMC, special guests for the Friday 7th meet. Viswanathan will follow up this.

 Slide show -  Jeyam has agreed to prepare a slide show as part of the 8th August, 2009 program. In this regard we     would like classmates to send the pictures to Priscilla so that she can scan them and send it to Jeyam. We would like the hard copy, so that we can digitize them with professional help. This is a major responsibility and Priscilla has kindly agreed undertake this. We will be very careful with the pictures and will return them during the reunion.   Will provide further details of this project soon. Please wait for  an update.

Other Business

Programme-  An outline of the programme for 7th and 8th   August was made. The Saturday programme is tentatively - departure from KMC by 11 hrs, lunch at MGM, activities /games, group photo before sun down, official programme followed by dinner and music.
