Finding time to post blogs is getting to be a problem. If classmates can email essays or topics , I would be happy to post them. For example-  Currently there is a health care debate going on in the US , and US docs can educate docs working in rest of the world about that.

Staying on the same subject, when most people in US talk about socialised medicine they talk  with such revolt and anger. Now UK doctors can write about the success and faults of the NHS there. Similarly Docs in India can write about the benefits and faults here. So please help in keeping this blog going.

About the picture- I have a regret, that I have never been able to climb a coconut tree. So whenever I see an expert climbing a cocconut tree , I stand back and watch with envy.

  1. Dear Prabhakar,

This is what I expected from you exactly!
This we should have done a long ago!
The subject matter! The main switch - that links to us all - the plug points! As a platform to share our thoughts and experience in our own subject "The Medical Science" among all the other things we discussed so far!
I hope and wish you create more such recesses please! I also pray for us to not to have any short circuits too!
    Best of luck!

  2. Dear All
    Prabhakar

Sorry for the delay in blogging. You have started an interesting debate. The debate on which form of healthcare delivery system is most ideal in the current environment.

NHS is a socialistic model where in delivery of healthcare is free from the point of entry to exit, US healthcare is capitalistic in nature where access to latest technology is based on your affordability but basic medical needs of rest of the citizens are provided in a rationed way similar to NHS and India is similar to US in many ways except that most of the cost of treatement is still borne by individuals (atleast in the majority) rather than through insurance companies.

Each system has its own strong and weak points.

Socialism (left Ideology) is a paternalistic approach where government provides for all the needs of the state whilst capitalism (Right Ideolgy)leaves the welfare of its citizens to the markets. The tussle between socialism and capitalism is an ongoing phenomena. If you notice in terms of crisis such as the economic crisis now governments tend to lean more towards socialistic approach.

Its too long a concept to discuss in a blog. But an intersting debate.

    regards

    Raghu
